Eve Ji Lu

One of my dear friends, Erika, and I keep in touch via our blogs, email, and of course social media.  She and I met 5 years ago in TX at our little MOPS table while I was bouncing a 4 week old baby boy on my lap, and she was rubbing her 9 month pregnant belly with her precious daughter inside.  Our friendship has grown ever since.  We’ve gone through motherhood together, whether it be long distance or not, Erika has strengthened me and encouraged me in my faith.  She is an amazing woman, and I’m incredibly thankful for her and her precious family!

Erika and Jason have been on an incredible journey this year, and they just brought home their newest daughter, Eve Ji Lu, from China!  She joined her older sister Ava and older brother Sutton at home just this past week.  They have such an amazing family story!  Erika shared this video of their family growth on her blog, and when I watched it tears poured all over my laptop!  I asked her if I could share it with you, and she said of course, if it stirs another heart to adopt one of these precious children!  I’m ready to fly to China and bring home 10 children with me.  Pray for Michael. :)  I hope you’ll be encouraged by this video.  I LOVE watching Eve’s joy come into bloom even after a few short days with Erika and her family.  I’m so blessed by them and I hope you will be too!

**I love these songs towards the end of the video.  They are 4 songs by Mandi Mapes (Church at Brookhills) of a series called Love Story.  I bought them on iTunes…you should check them out!    Erika said if you click on the link below, you can watch the story online.   The story and songs start at about the 2 minute mark (it starts with a monologue by “Ruth” so watch for that as your cue). http://www.brookhills.org/media/series/story-of-love/

Family and Friends,

I just opened an etsy shop.  Let me give you a quick background…

God has been taking jason and I down this new path, showing us more about Him and about His plan for our lives and how we live our lives.   He’s shown us more than I can write in a quick email but I do want to share with you the four verses that He keeps bringing to our minds and our eyes as a central point of focus in this:

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Matthew 10:42  And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.

Matthew 10:37  Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said to him, “go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, (U) and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.

In light of these verses, we’ve just been trying to lessen in our lives, the things that we do for us and increase the things we do for Him.   In searching for what my part in this might be, I thought I might just take the advice many of you have given me and open a sewing shop on etsy.com.   One hundred percent of what I make from the sale of the items I sew will be given to a Christian organization that cares for the poor and orphans and spreads the Gospel.    The name of my shop is A Cup of Cold Water and you can find me at pfinn77.etsy.com.  I invite you to visit and share it with your friends!   Since I am only a one-girl crew, I haven’t listed many items for sale yet, but those of you who are my facebook friends know all of the things I have made.  Most of what is in my Facebook Craft Photo Album could be made and sold.

There’s no pressure whatsoever to place an order – I’m just letting you know about it!  What you can do is please pray that God will send some shoppers to my page.   This is truly all to spread God’s love (and a little bit to get out my creative energy, admittedly!) so I will trust Him to bring buyers if this is an avenue He wants me to pursue!
